Put us both in a locked room and only one will emerge

I do believe my daughter and I are getting ready to step into the square circle. Now before you pick sides, let me assure you, though she is smaller and a bit more wirey, I'm bigger and she can't outrun me.

This kid is going down!

I was going to kill her this morning with her uncontrollable whining. She wanted her daddy. Geo was in work. I called him and handed her the phone. All she did was cry into the phone. I heard him say "I gotta go, baby. Tell mommy to call me later." Do you blame the man? I'd hang up, too, if I had a three year old crying and screaming into my mobile.

Did I mention this whole episode occured while we were in transit this morning?

I screamed at her at the top of my lungs. She finally calmed down and proceded to be the spaced out child I know. I asked her if she liked it when I got so mad I yell.

"No."

"Then why do you do it, sweetie?"

"I don't know."

Lord, she's practicing to be a teenager.

Yesterday was golden. Oh yeah, she showed her true spirit in school. I dropped her off and she didn't stop crying for a second. Now, in her defense, they are doing the transition thingy this week into her new class. Her new teacher, Lori, said it's not uncommon for kids to be be crying and clingy. But this kid wouldn't stop at all.

This was our conversation after school yesterday.

Me: So how was school, honey?

Dink: I cried.

Me: I know, but when I left Miss Lori was giving you a snack.

Not a dumb teacher. Give the kid food to keep her mind off of her problems.

Dink: Yah.

Me: What did you have?

Dink: Fishies.

Me: Did you eat'em?

Dink: Yah.

Me: Then what did you do?

Dink: I cried.

Me (rolling my eyes): Ohhh-kay. Then what?

Dink: I had water.

Me: And then?

Dink: I cried.

Lori confirmed the whole thing. I told her she (meaning Dink) wasn't feeling well. Lori is convinced it's the trasition. Dink must be going through Miss Lauren withdrawl.

Oh, I so need an aspirin the size of a hockey puck.

A very effective birth control post if I ever read it : )

It's the age, really. Seperation anxiety, testing boundaries, the whole thing. It will pass -- along with your sanity!

That makes me want a snack of a gin and tonic.

VG ~ You worked in a daycare. Doing that is birth control enough for anyone.

CP ~ Honey, I lost my sanity years ago. Dinker is just capitalizing on that.

Whinger ~ Now, won't you have more empathy for that mom who has the screaming kid in whatever store, restaurant, bar you happen to be in?

Wow...really wow!

A bitch is stressed just reading that.

But they outgrow this behavior, right?

Mercy!

Give her a couple of glasses of whiskey.

That'll keep her quiet.

Crying children just has to be one of the most annoying sounds in the world.

I was a complete angel as a child. Never a whimper from me. Only ever big beaming smiles.

If there is one thing I can't stand is whiny children. My kid is getting WAY too good at whining. She's not even a year old. I'm scared.

As a parent of a 10 and 3 year old, I can relate. The whinning, the crying, the bargaining, the pleading... oh it goes on and on.

And I'm not even talking about the kids!!

ABB ~ Nah, this behavior rolls right into the teen years. The only diff is the bribes become more expensive and the kids are mouthier.

Wee Piggy and Super Hero Taz ~ We thought about the whiskey but all we have is Jamesons. I love her but not that much.

Sure you were a beaming child. Beaming the whole time you were setting traps for unknown victims that walked by your house, I bet.

Sangron ~ I try to have adult dialogue with her and give her lots of open-ended questions. She's quite the talker and I think doing all the time that has helped.

CeCe ~ Not to scare you more, but it may get worse. Worse is between two and four. Just bite your tongue, keep reminding yourself Cherry is still just a wee little one, and take lots of aspirin (or whatever you can take in your condition).

Actually, it must not really bother you since you are having another one. Silly girl.

Charlie ~ I have to be careful what I barter with her. Dinker has an awesome memory, too. It's not like I can just agree to anything 'cause the little runt will hold me to it.

Oooohhhhh I so ooooooooooooooooo feel for you on this one. My son has hit his turrible twos and I can hardly stand him!!!! The crying, the sensitivity, the getting into trouble because he seems to like it..,.....ARRRGGGGHHHHH!!!! much better....pass the codeine?

Rowan ~ At least you had a heads up with him 'cause you have had the pumpkin first. This behavior completely blindsided me.

Tink ~ I could NEVER be a SAHM. Not only would we end up trying to kill each other, I'm very boring. More power to ya, sister!
