Now, LaToyia may Rest In Peace

It seems LaToyia Figueroa's remains have been found. An arrest in connection with her death has been made. One more Philly case of a missing person can now be closed off the books.

No one wants this kind of a conclusion. Everyone wants a Disney ending. All hoped and prayed the young woman would be found alive. Realists knew, more than likely, that would not be the case.

As heartbreaking and as horrible as this story has come to a close, we must all remember one thing - she was found. Her family can lay her to rest.

Sometime during your day, I ask everyone to not only give a moment of silence in LaToyia's memory, but to also pause for those whose families still have no end in sight for their missing loved ones.

So sad.

Her family was so involved in searching for her, and so proactive -- they obviously had so much love for her and her children.

We find this really, truly, very sad to wake up to this morning. Lord only knows what must be going through this young womans family's mind.

But, as you say, there are still a great many families out there for whom there is, as yet, no end in sight for their pain.

This is horrible. I guess I was in denial, I really thought she'd be found alive and well ... damn this savage hateful world we live in!

CP, P ad T, and Pax -

It is sad and horrible and awful and tragic. But as with all tragedies, there is the reason.

This woman did not die in vain. Her spirit united a bunch of on-line typists in one common goal. She showed us that we can get together as one and shout louder than anybody swinging a megaphone

If we learned anything from the experience, we learned the power of on-line blogging is great and can speak volumes when no one seems to be listening.

What a beautiful way you just put that. I'm not ashamed to say that I read your words (in the comment above this one) many times and it actually stunned me. Stopped me in my flighty voyeuristic tracks for a few moments. Made me think.

You summed up, in a few short words the very reason I continue to blog, even when I feel like stopping.

Do you mind if I quote you over at our place? As a enormous compliment to yourself and as a reminder to others who may not have thought about it.

You really are an angel.

Oh my. I'm flattered. Thank you very much.

Yes, you may quote.

So sad...but I concur at least we have seen the power blogs can have, for good - making noise when everyone else seems to be dead silent.
